Hello, I am John, and welcome to my blog.

I am a dedicated software engineer with a strong interest in data science.

My career journey spans diverse domains over a range of 10 years, including over 5 years in financial engineering, where I designed and implemented trading systems. During another set of 5 years, I have worked as a self-employed software engineer, providing e2e solutions. I have worked with many programming languages - Python, Java, Golang, Ruby, JavaScript to name a few.

My expertise lies in rationalizing complex systems, refactoring code base, extracting essential business knowledge from code / systems and documenting them.

Nowadays I find my passion in data science, working with data sets from diverse fields to create meaningful insights.

I hold a Masters degree in Physics from Columbia University. I also have an IBM certificate in Data Science.

In terms of public service, I served in the US Army as a specialist for 4.5 years. I am an Afghan veteran.

During my free time, I enjoy running, volunteering and writing blogs.
